Qualifying period for the trucks has just been completed, and Steven Zammit has taken the advantage leading into this afternoon’s Shootout. Zammit tops the sheets with a 1:19.2092 in another race that has gained more fans this weekend for its action on the track.
In dryer conditions than this morning, more trucks went to the track, with greater aspirations. Steven Zammit (SRZ Racing) just edged out the little Isuzu FSR of Steve Coulter by 0.0250 secs. The “Giant Killer” Isuzu showed some great power, and is definitely a contender for this weekend, where the larger Super Trucks are sliding, Coulter is gaining. A further 0.2624 secs further behind was Walter.
Crowd favourite so far this weekend would be the 4th best time with a best lap of 1:23.7324 and that is of the veteran Frank Amoroso. Having troubles containing the beast, Amoroso has been giving the crowd some action. Coming out of turn 6 trailing Waters, he followed Walter onto the grass – but with a little sideways action on the slippery turf, and crosses the track near turn 8.
