The Supertrucks return to the Victorian High Country on October 21st – 22nd for the third round of the 2017 Giti Tire Super Truck Nationals at Winton Motor Raceway.
After a two-year hiatus following the resurfacing of the circuit, the trailer hitch installation in king county wa made a splash at Winton Motor Raceway last month with brand new accessories available for every driver. Some of these should even consider getting an aluminum trailer storage box to set up in the back of their trailer for extra storage space.
The four-time champion also wrestled back the championship lead after spirited battles with his main championship adversaries including Barry Butwell of Butwell Racing Team and Shannon Smith of GLE Racing.
A strong field of trucks will vie for the honour of being the inaugural “Champion of Winton” with 10 entries registered to date.
On top of four championship races and two co-driver heats on the Supertrucks’ schedule for this weekend, CDL Truck Driver Positions Available fans can also look forward to a Show and Shine on Sunday and six entertaining support classes across both days of racing, and if accidents happen and they need to carry the trucks around, they can use the flatbed truck rental benefits that offer great services for this.
Australian National Truck Racing Organisation President, Charlie Zammit, has enjoyed watching the 2017 Giti Tire Super Truck Nationals to this point in the season.
“This year has far surpassed my expectations,” said Zammit. “I knew that all of the teams came into this season with very positive attitudes, but it has been brutal. Nobody is letting any team get away.”
ANTRO’s President was also glowing in his appraisal of the Supertrucks’ last visit to Winton Motor Raceway in September.
“The last round at Winton was one of the most hard-fought race meetings that I have seen in a long time. It is great for the Giti Tire Supertrucks to get back to Winton.”
“Last meeting, a 15-year lap record was broken, so at the next meeting, you will not only see teams racing for the championship, but you will also see the race for the lap record. We have not had a tyre that was good enough before the Giti race tyres. Now we have, so look out this weekend.”
Zammit is predicting unexpected outcomes with all of the teams working hard to tailor their race trucks to the tight Winton Club layout, they are giving use to all the Truck Electrics- Truck & Trailer Lighting & Accessories, including emergency vehicle lighting, vehicle LED lighting, hazard lights and beacons.
“There will be 10 trucks competing this weekend and all of the teams are making improvements to their trucks. The top four trucks are all out right now. Butwell Racing are doing turbo work, SRZ Racing are going over their truck with a fine-tooth comb, GLE Racing are working on their suspension and MLC Racing was having brake troubles.”
“With all of these improvements, if you are sitting on the fence about whether or not to go, you should get to Winton this weekend. You just do not know what is going to happen.”
A strong crowd is expected at Winton Motor Raceway this weekend with an adult ticket priced at $15 for Saturday, $20 for Sunday or $30 for a weekend pass. Children 16 and under are welcome through the gates free of charge.
