Kenworth has taken out the fastest lap in the first warmup race of the day.
In what saw a quick 5min rain period minutes before the trucks were due to hit the track, he had overcome an early spin out of turn 4 which placed him in the centre of the track, and come back to take the fastest time of pre-qualifying with a 1:36.4511. Meanwhile, Steven Zammit in the SRZ Racing Kenworth was 1 sec further back with a 1:37.6968 and Frank Amoroso making his return to racing with a 1:43.9528.
Only one truck kept a forward position in that of Steve Coulter in the Isuzu FSR, but pulled out after 3 laps seeing the condition of the track, and was obvious after Fletcher Christian completed a 360 degree spin out of the last turn.
