As Giti Tire Supertrucks fans lapped up the sunshine, Saturday proved to be the Steven Zammit show with two race victories for the championship leader in the SRZ Racing entry. In fact, the top three were line astern on Saturday with championship contenders, Barry Butwell and Shannon Smith, rounding out the podium respectively in races one and two. Craig Yardy was also impressive on the first day of racing with a pair of top-five finishes in the Kara Kar Trailers Isuzu FSR light truck. On Sunday, Frank Amoroso rained on the SRZ Racing parade in the penultimate race of the weekend with a superb defensive drive to hold out a charging Steven Zammit. The latter would not be denied in the final race, however. Starting from the rear of the field and barely avoiding an opening lap spin for Craig Yardy, Zammit picked through the field one at a time to reach the rear of Barry Butwell’s Mack Superliner.
Reminiscent of the previous Winton race meeting in September, Barry Butwell held on for a number of laps before Steven Zammit claimed the position in a wild moment on the back straight. The SRZ Racing pilot cleared Robert Fern’s race-leading Volvo to take the final race of the weekend from Barry Butwell and Shannon S
